Τhe World Congress “Aristotle 2400 Years” is organized by the Interdisciplinary Centre for Aristotle Studies (DIKAM) of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki-Greece (A.U.TH.). The Congress will be held under the auspices of the President of the Hellenic Republic. It also has the full support of the Fédération Internationale des Sociétés de Philosophie (FISP), the Academy of Athens and the Hellenic National Commission for UNESCO.
The aim of the Congress is to advance scholarship on all aspects of Aristotle’s work; a work whose impact is unique in volume of influence in the history of the human thought; a work which continues to be present in the intellectual evolution of Europe and of the Western civilization in general, thus becoming an integral and essential part of its cultural heritage. Furthermore, the insights in Aristotle’s work, in the light of new discoveries in contemporary sciences, can enable us to build the conceptual bridges between scientific thought and philosophical reflection; it can also offer the paradigm par excellence for an interdisciplinary approach of knowledge. We, thus, believe that this work deserves to be known for its long-standing influence, as well as for its relevance for the 21st century and its potential to lead us to a deeper understanding of concepts, ideas and problems of our own era in a global scale.
